Good Evening All!
Hoping you have had a wonderful Sunday.  I'm sharing with you tonight, a couple of crafty items. I have finally finished a creation of altered candles to mail off to one of my SOC Sistah's for a Candle Swap.  You say... 'what's a candle swap'? Our guidelines read as follows: Participants will alter/embellish either 2 pillar or 4 taper candles with Christmas baubles, trim, lace, bling, glitter, ribbon, etc.
So - here's my take on the swap and sure am hoping the partner I was hooked up will enjoy my creations.  Thanks for viewing.

What A Night!

My husband & I attended a wonderful event last evening, titled “Singing for the Cure.”  It was an awesome dinner & concert filled with talented Gospel Groups, Musicians & Soloist of all ages.  I had the pleasure of being one of the invidual's who were honored ~ and I’ll tell you we enjoyed this time from start to finish!!
I was invited by a friend and previous co-worker who I hadn’t seen in over ten years!  She is actually the person who hired me in one of my many positions... back in the 90’s.  I was so looking forward to seeing her and not expecting what I was in store for. The minute we entered the affair, we were greeted with a feeling of adoration and warmly welcomed by all.  The educators and speaker’s, were extremely important; many of us in the audience remarked at how much we learned and how the visual aids were helpful.
Meeting other survivors - hearing stories of strength and resilience through the storm, reminded us of the importance of Faith.  We had no idea we were in for such a praise party ~ the talent you brought in was absolutely amazing, we had so much fun celebrating and certainly appreciate the incredible efforts of bringing together such an awe-inspiring event.
To my surprise, we were presented with delightful, lavish gifts and flowers – wow!
What a night ~ I certainly am taking it easy today ~ have a wonderful Sunday.

Happy Saturday Everyone! What a Beautiful Day!!

This gift has been created for a young lady who was diagnosed at the age of 22; That was 4 years ago… she’s now doing amazing things, such as focusing on raising money and awareness about the disease and is currently a graduate student - studying community counseling in hopes of becoming a licensed counselor to help young adults.  Certainly an asset to society!

I will have the pleasure of meeting her tonight, at a Breast Cancer Survivor dinner where the two of us have been invited.  I am excited to meet her, after hearing her Mother (a co-worker of mine) describe her determination and strength.
Have a Fun & Blessed Weekend!

"What I Know For Sure"

**Greetings** & Good Afternoon All!
I am dedicating today's post to my Dear Husband. He walked with me - step-by-step through my recent 'pink journey'.
I am ever so grateful & thankful.  I have created a card and presented it to him today.

What I know for sure… is that early detection saved my life. ... A routine physical exam in November, 2010 marked the beginning of my journey.  I felt I was in pretty good health, often ignoring minor physical symptoms (which proved later I should have seen a doctor earlier).  A lump was detected during a routine exam by a general practitioner.  She immediately provided me with orders for a diagnostic mammogram.  Within a few days, I received a positive diagnosis of breast cancer. I could barely concentrate on all of this new information, appointments, etc.; however, I knew I needed to follow the given treatment plans to the very letter!!
Meeting with the cancer center staff was absolutely mind boggling. I had an overload of info followed by bone scans, ultrasounds and more. We knew of many diagnosed in the past, however, it’s really different when this disease invades your very own body.  My awesome husband, Ed & I learned as much as we could about this particular diagnosis.  The medical team reminded us repeatedly that it was an aggressive form & time was of the essence.  I created spreadsheets, prepared a binder for documentation - kept my family updated on all of the appointments using electronic calendars.  Within 10 months, I had surgery, chemotherapy, an additional surgery, followed by approximately 8 weeks of daily radiation.

Never again, will I place my health on the back burner.  It is my goal to be informed and encourage others to have regular mammograms, know your body and seek medical attention when needed  I will not be shy about my journey and will offer my newly acquired knowledge to support others through uncertain times such as this.

National Think Pink Day

Hello all!  I am hoping you have a wonderful day today.
Today, October 13th was National Think Pink Day - My place of employment encouraged the staff to Wear Pink!  And did they... it was very nice.  A group photo was taken and much togetherness was shown.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the integral role of early detection in the prevention of breast cancer, nationwide government employees are encouraged to celebrate National Think Pink Day on Thursday, October 13th by wearing a pink ribbon and/or pink clothing to work.
One of the primary goals of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to "Pass the Word" regarding the importance of a woman's decision to engage in early detection of breast cancer, including:  • Mammography screenings; • Clinical breast exams performed by health care providers; and • Breast self-examinations (both men and women).
The pink ribbon is a widely recognized symbol of breast cancer awareness. By wearing a pink ribbon and/or pink clothing on Thursday, October 13th, you are helping to "Pass the Word" and raise awareness of breast cancer among your fellow employees.

I'll continue to think pink!  Have a wonderful evening.... can't wait to get crafty tomorrow.

Creations Of My Pink Journey: I have posted my completion of creations I signed ...

I have posted my completion of creations I signed up for on the SOC site. This was an amazing task for me, because of course, it's so close to my heart. One of the ladies on the site has hosted the following:

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Ladies here at SOC that are currently fighting the battle, those that have fought and won or those no longer with us (a family member or friend)... We are making Artist Trading Cards (ATC).

What is an ATC? An ATC measures 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches in size.
How many can I make? As many as you'd like but at least 5.
Theme: Breast Cancer Awareness Inspiration.... Size: ATC
You will be making ATCs to be given to the ladies here that identify themselves as a Survivor, Fighter or Honoree. Let's brighten their day and show them, that they are not alone in this. Scriptures or poems, stamps or stickers... Let your creativity flow!

Kyla's Birthday is Almost Here!!

Saturday Nite Crop

Greetings all!
Have to let you know - I haven't been out and about in over ten months - wow! Last night, I had fun during my first ever 'Crop Night'.

Met up with my girlfriend JoAnn as we both are on a quest for learning to create cards. She is already an amazing seamtress, with the ability to design flyers, brochures, etc. We were at our local Archiver's store and while there - found ourselves surrounded by many 'seasoned', yet friendly scrapbookers and card makers. I'm sooooo shy - right, however, I finally spoke up and asked if any of the ladies at this crop were members of SOC - three of them were... Nice!! So, it was very nice to meet Lynn, Sandra & Chinie from the online Scraps of Color group and I look forward to meeting more of them and seeing additional crafts and creations face-to-face.

My project during crop night was to honor my Daughter-In-Law, Kyla, as the Queen of her Household. She has an October birthday, is an awesome Gospel Singer and has been a blessing to our family!!
